At a construction cost exceeding $200 million, Tutor Perini Corporation is improving the longest runway in the U.S. at one of the country’s busiest
airports.
The project includes removing and resurfacing 2-1/2 miles of main runway, installing new lighting & navigation aids, adding and
reconfiguring taxiways, and providing all drainage, electrical, and other infrastructure work as needed for a complete project.
The schedule
meticulously incorporates more than twenty individual “stages” spread over more than thirty major areas. Operations require extremely precise
coordination among construction forces, security, FAA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on a continuous basis.
